The ideal time is January to experience both Timkat (January 19-20) and Christmas (January 7). For Meskel, visit in September (September 27). We offer tours throughout the year, but festival dates follow the Ethiopian calendar, so specific dates vary slightly each year.
Modest clothing is required for all religious sites. Women should wear dresses or skirts below the knee, with shoulders covered. Men should wear long pants. Shoes that are easy to remove are recommended as you'll need to remove them before entering churches. We provide traditional shawls/scarves if needed.
Yes, Ethiopian religious festivals are family-oriented events. However, some ceremonies involve long standing periods and large crowds. We can arrange seating accommodations and adjust the pace for elderly travelers or families with children. Early preparation and guidance from our experienced guides ensure everyone can participate comfortably.
Moderate fitness is recommended as some sites involve walking on uneven surfaces and standing during ceremonies. Lalibela churches require navigating stone steps and pathways. We can customize the itinerary for different fitness levels and provide assistance where needed.
Absolutely! Ethiopian cuisine has excellent vegetarian options due to frequent fasting periods in the Orthodox calendar. We can accommodate all dietary restrictions with advance notice. Traditional fasting food (vegan) is widely available and delicious.
